Grif’s Customs MK5

This week we bring you our second ever Sabersmith Spotlight. Sabersmith Spotlights are reserved for showcasing saber smiths who do end to end work - from designing and machining hilts, to designing chassis to installing the electronics inside the saber. The sheer range and complexity of all the skills involved mean that only a limited few smiths at the top of the game can achieve such glorious feats of saber wizardry.

We’re proud to share three sabers from the legendary @grifsabers . One of the oldest pioneering custom lightsaber makers, Brad Griffith aka Grif, makes some of the most gorgeous machined hilts in the community. Always made in limited quantities, his hilts are highly sought after unicorns for every custom saber collector.

The first saber in the series is the MK5 featuring familiar Canon design elements from original trilogy sabers the Graflex and the Obi-wan lightsaber. This is the 10th piece of the second run, with unique features such as the shine-through shroud and crystal chamber, and the custom magnetic hinged chassis design. Featuring CFX neopixel for light and sound, the saber echoes magnificently with the sound vented pommel. Every aspect of the saber is meticulously thought through, including the special button designs, the custom blade plug, the interchangeable boosters and even precise threading to ensure proper placement of the pommel and D-ring.

Follow us and don’t miss the next few sabers by Grif, or check out our last Sabersmith Spotlight on Gary Morris from The Outer Rim Outpost!
