Grif’s Customs Malus

Continuing our Sabersmith Spotlight this week on @grifsabers ! Sabersmith Spotlights are reserved for showcasing saber smiths who do end to end work - from designing and machining hilts, to designing chassis to installing the electronics inside the saber. The sheer range and complexity of all the skills involved mean that only a limited few smiths at the top of the game can achieve such glorious feats of saber wizardry.

The second saber in this series is the Malus. Our Exhibit features the first Malus built by Brad Griffith. While Brad gave the option to install these, this piece was installed by Brandon King at @scarecrows_lightworks_llc . The Malus features a fully custom machined hilt, including a custom copper wire grip wrap and copper wired shine-through blade plug. As its name suggests, the Malus exudes a malevolence showcased by its aggressive claws running down across the emitter. The weathering betrays a well-worn hilt that has felt the heat of many a battle. This aesthetic follows all the way through to the pommel with hidden sound venting for an awesome audio experience. Underneath, the chassis reveals a brass caged crystal chamber and LED accents, holding a CFX for neopixel light and sound.

Stay tuned for the last saber in the series!
